Five Professional Events Added To The Prefontaine Classic, Preliminary Schedule Announced

In addition to the previously announced Diamond Disciplines, fans can expect to see the following events and their headliners at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic on Saturday, May 25 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon:

Women’s 10,000 meters

Fresh off the third-fastest women’s 1500m ever run, outdoor 5000 meter world record-holder and Olympic medalist Gudaf Tsegay will make a run at the 10,000 meter world record at The Prefontaine Classic. Tsegay’s 5000m world record (14:00.21) was set at last year’s Pre Classic, which served as the Wanda Diamond League Final. The current women’s outdoor 10,000m world record stands at 29:01.03, set by Letesenbet Gidey in 2021.

Women’s 100 meter Hurdles

The Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will be joined by two-time World Outdoor champion Danielle Williams and 2019 World Outdoor gold medalist Nia Ali over 10 hurdles, along with Devynne Charlton, who recently set the world record, pending ratification, in the indoor 60m hurdles (7.65) at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships.

Women’s Hammer Throw

The 2023 World Athletics Championships Budapest 23 medalists are set for a rematch at the Pre Classic. Reigning world champion Camryn Rogers is joined by two-time world medalist Janee’ Kassanavoid and American record-holder and two-time world medalist DeAnna Price for the event.

Women’s Para Athletics 100 meters, mixed classification

Six-time world champion Martina Caironi (T63) returns to Pre Classic, where she set a then-world record in the event in 2022. She will compete against Abassia Rahmani (T62), Sara Andrés Barrio (T62), Orla Comerford (T13), Luca Ekler (T38), Sophie Hahn (T38), Ambra Sabatini (T63), and more. Men’s Para Athletics 100 meters, mixed classification

Paralympic Games and World Outdoor Championships gold medalist Salum Ageze Kashafali (T13) headlines this field of sprinters, which includes Maxcel Amo Manu (T64), Sherman Isidro Guity Guity (T64), Philipp Handler (T13), Zak Skinner (T13), Vegard Sverd (T13), Axel Zorzi (T13), and more. The preliminary schedule of Saturday’s meet has also been announced. This schedule is subject to change.

Tickets are now on sale, with prices starting at just $25. Customers are limited to purchasing a maximum of eight tickets and order processing fees will be added to the cost of each ticket.
