The Prefontaine Classic invites fans of all ages to take part in the third annual Night of Miles at The Prefontaine Classic presented by Kaiser Permanente on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Hayward Field. There is no cost to participate in the event.

Whether you run or walk, experience the thrill of completing a mile under the lights on the iconic track where some of the world’s greatest athletes have competed.

Chasing a specific time? The WaveLight pacing system will guide you with a variety of pace options. Heats will be organized by seed time and run from slowest to fastest.

Online registration closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. PT. On-site registration will be available before the event from 4:45 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the south end of Hayward Field.

Yes, restrooms are available around the Hayward Field concourse.
Track spikes are allowed in the competition venue. Please do not walk in the stands in spikes.
No, bag check will not be available. Participants are encouraged to leave personal belongings in their vehicle or with someone who is not competing.
Athletes should report to the clerking table race-ready. Event staff are not responsible for any clothing or personal items left behind at clerking.
All athletes ages 10 and under will be asked to wait in the athlete waiting area located in section 117 until a parent/guardian arrives to pick them up. All participants will be exiting from the same location.
